The free layout software Scribus remains a pioneer in the field of colour. In the latest version 1.5.4 spectral colour lists can be read in CxF format. Spectral data is arguably the future of colour definition - it is the only way to fully describe a colour independent of light and observer. In contrast, Lab colour values are device-neutral, but only valid for a certain type of light.
In addition, colour management has been further enhanced and Scribus now shows with exclamation marks if colours are outside the set print gamut.
